The following pictures were taken at the Rio Lindo Academy in Healdsburg on September 17, 2005

A phenomena in nature has occurred since 1989 at the Rio Lindo Academy in Healdsburg, California. Every September thousands of Vaux Swifts stage to begin their journey south to South America. For a short period of time these birds will gather at dusk and then after the Sun sets they will begin to descend into a small chimney found in the maintenance building on the grounds of the school. The following are just a few pictures that I took on a Saturday night in September of 2005. Although I do not feel they capture the essence of the experience, I do believe they show to those who are skeptical that this is an experience that all who have not experienced this phenomena to visit the school to view this staging of Vaux Swifts.
